i believe that NHL 2K10 chose the better player for this years's game. alexander ovechkin has been doing really well this season with 14 goals and 9 assists while patrick kane has only 3 goals and 6 assists. 2K sports made the better marketing decision because ovechkin is more popular and so the people who are getting into videogames will recognize ovechkin better than kane.
EA Sports may have the excuse of saying that NHL 10 is for the people who are in the know in hockey but the truth is NHL 2K10 is going to be more familiar to casual people and that way people will buy this game instead of NHL 10 by EA sports.

NHL 2K10 did make the good choice by taking Ovechkin, but in reality, it was not really a choice possible for EA. EA Sports names Alexander Ovechkin as the cover for their '07 game. However, their choice in Patrick Kane was also a good choice, as EA usually chooses the up-and-coming stars and makes them more popular. So Patrick Kane is a good choice for the cover, even though Ovechkin is a better and more popular player......at least right now.
ReplyDeleteyou're right ryan but new comers to the video game scene know more about the popular players than the up and coming players and these kinds of games are made yearly so the profit is more important for the year that it is produced and if one does not know who is in the cover people might reconsider buying a game that has a popular player rather than an up and coming players. however, it is your opinion.
