are the canadian olympics and hockey bringing money to canada

The 2010 Vancouver Olympics are the most anticipated sports events coming to Canada. The Olympics have been really costly for the Canadian government.

"Then there's the $1 billion Olympic Village, at least $131 million over budget according to recent reports, with no idea how much the city might lose when it sells the units on the market after the games. Vancouver taxpayers were put on the hook for the completion of the village when it secured hundreds of millions of dollars in loans when Fortress Investment Group's financing disappeared. The construction budget rose from $950 million to $1.08 billion.

I think that the Olympics are very costly. There are so many other problems around Canada that the money could have been well spent. the swine flu shots have been reduced and only the needy can get and if Canada had spent the money on buying more swine flu shots maybe people could be more healthy and less deaths because the flu can be reduced.

Another way to spend the money could have been used on building shelter for homeless and the needy. If the Canadian government cared more about the people then about the business of the country then maybe the Canadian government could have more supporters.

Some people say that the Olympics will bring business in Canada and that may be true; with the rise of tourism around Vancouver for the Olympics more people will seek business opportunity in Canada. Even though that is still true the money that was over budgeted could have been put to better use
